The British Council organised a series of Teacher Takeaway webinars for English teachers to celebrate the British Council's 50th anniversary in Korea.

This webinar series, consisting of five webinars, introduced the 2022 Revised Korean English National Curriculum and ELT and materials development. More than 2,500 teachers of English, teacher educators and researchers from across Korea have attended in the five webinars.

[Overview]

This webinar series, consisting of five webinars, will introduce key concepts of the 2022 Revised English National Curriculum in South Korea and offer guidance on how to implement it in English classes. More specifically, the webinars will focus on providing an overview of the Revised English National Curriculum, English digital literacy, and literature-based reading instruction. In addition, the series will highlight practical applications of the revised curriculum for primary and secondary English classroom contexts. This will include presenting effective materials development options utilizing the British Council's TeachingEnglish platform to facilitate the successful implementation of the revised curriculum in English lessons.

[Chairperson]

Kyungja Ahn is a professor in the English Education Department at the Seoul National University of Education. Her research and pedagogical interests include L2 teacher education, L2 teaching and learning, L2 curriculum, and language education policy. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses and conducted workshops and seminars for both pre- and in-service teachers. She participated in the development of the 2022 Revised English National Curriculum and has written numerous English language textbooks. As an academic consultant for the British Council, she has developed this webinar series incorporating materials for English teachers under the curricular reform context in Korea.
