Welcome to the British Council in Korea.

The British Council opened in Korea back in 1973. For half a century we have built connections, understanding and trust between people in Korea and the UK. People learn English with us. People take UK examinations with us. Our arts and education work helps people to understand each other better, so that they can work together on the challenges the world faces today.

Many people know us through our four English centres in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, where you and your children can learn English. Or perhaps you need to assess your language skills so that you can study abroad. Over 23,000 people take exams with us in Korea every year – IELTS will give you access to university education in the UK, the USA and more. If you are interested in studying in the UK, Study UK is our lively guide to UK education. We work with Korean partners in many fields, promoting and strengthening connections between academics, artists, and teachers, both face-to-face and online. Come and join us.
