[Primary Session] Growing Through Project-Based English Learning
Project-based learning leads students to develop autonomous learning, boost creative thinking skills, and solve problems through cooperation. This method complements the 2022 Revised National Curriculum, which stresses the importance of achieving similar core competencies. However, most teachers that have tried to create a related project from the course book materials have often found themselves perplexed in how to do so. Planning a productive project and managing a class to cooperate and produce high-quality project results is not easy. This webinar will walk teachers through easy and systematic ways of planning projects and provide practical tips for establishing a classroom culture that enables students to cooperate. Various materials including British Council resources will be utilized for providing effective project-based lessons.
Yunhee Kim has worked as a primary school teacher for 26 years. She has also worked as a teacher trainer at the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE) and holds a Cambridge ESOL ICELT, MEd in primary English education, and a TEE-Master certificate from SMOE. Her special interests include task-based language teaching, learner-centered assessment, English literacy instruction for late bloomers, blended teaching and learning, and growth mindset-based classroom management. She has also been a founder and manager of the primary English teachers’ community 'Hanurae's Dream English Classroom' since 2012, where 6,000 primary school teachers share their passion for teaching English.
[Secondary Session] The Revised Curriculum and the Vision for English Classes
This webinar will reflect on the learning objectives of English education ahead of the implementation of the 2022 Revised National Curriculum and provide ideas and discussion on designing meaningful learning experiences to foster student agency and critical literacy in English classes.
