Cambridge CELTA

What is CELTA?

The Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA), accredited by Cambridge English Language Assessment, is an introductory course for candidates with little or no previous English Language teaching experience as well as those with experience but little previous training. The qualification is recognised at English teaching companies all around the world and is very often a pre-requisite to employment as an EFL teacher.

For more information regarding the CELTA please have a look at the Cambridge ESOL website.

How is the Online CELTA different to the face-to-face course?

Essentially it’s very similar to the face-to-face course. The main components of the online CELTA are still assessed teaching practice and observations with real students in a real classroom. Tutors will still be watching lessons and giving face-to-face feedback.  Assignments will be submitted online to an online tutor and input sessions will also be delivered online. The advantage for the CELTA candidate is that they only need to come into the centre twice a week for teaching practice, rather than 3 times a week to do input sessions.
