The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and sends English-language teachers from Korea abroad for training opportunities. Upon returning to Korea, many teachers previously said that the overseas training would have been more effective if they had the opportunity to learn more about the language and culture of their host country before departing.
Why does NIIED partner with us?
Accessing our global networks
NIIED partnered with the British Council to create a pre-departure training curriculum that gave teachers insight into the cultural and educational norms of the countries in which they would study. The curriculum also provided additional English-language training to make teacher feel more comfortable whilst abroad. This boosted the perceived quality of the overseas training as well as their educational outcomes.
NIIED signed a memorandum of understanding with the British Council in 2012 so they could benefit from our global teaching experience and our access to world-wide resources.
